ICT-ET ( ICT Association Ethiopia )

About

ICT-ET is an association of private sector ICT companies; Formally established in Nov. 2010 with Charities and Societies Agency and re-established at the Ministry of Trade in Dec. 2013. The purpose of the association is to Expose, Engage and Enable the private sector within the tech industry in Ethiopia. The association provides support services to private sector tech companies. Some of the services it provides include the Public/Private Sector Forum, ICT Expo and Conferences, Facilitating innovation competitions, Research, Studies and Policy Proposal, Diaspora Mentorship Program, and Technology Innovation series to connect and expose the Ethiopian tech sector to companies from outside and vice versa.
ICTET has more than 80 member companies, and more than 3000 companies and professionals on its mailing list. Among many other cooperative work with public sector bodies, it has recently also conducted a cooperation project on digital Skills focusing on four areas: Stakeholder dialogue towards a Digital Skills Framework in cooperation with Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MoSHE), Internship Placement for recent graduates, Basic digital skills intervention, and a digital scouts project to support e-learning at TVETs and Universities during Covid-19. It has also facilitated the annual ICT Expo, largest tech event in the country.

The association has the following aims:

- Help improve the development of human resources, education, and skill capacity of member companies
- Inviting member and private companies for the development of ICT and tech through private and public participation
- Represent and facilitate ICT companies' participation in national dialogue as responsible stakeholders, to provide inputs and commonly shared ideas, and forward proposals/policy recommendation to support the sector
