Our Mission
The Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute provides a training delivery service in which selected Ethiopians are educated, trained and developed; in the knowledge, skills and attitudes required by the client; through appropriate facilities, methodologies and resources; with competent trainers; in a quality environment; and in a way which provides competent seafarers who meet the expectations of the maritime industry.
The Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute (EMTI S.C.) through its elite maritime training program,has established superior standards for selecting and training its Cadets to become world class Marine Engineers.
In partnership with Bahir-Dar University (BDU), EMTI S.C. is training Marine Engineering and Electro Technical Officers annually, including Marine Engineers at the Management Level. EMTI S.C. training center is located in Bahir-Dar of the Amhara region and have facilities both at the University of Bahir Dar PEDA Campus as well as at Lake Tana Campus. The Maritime Academy's training programs, certification and assignment arrangements fully comply with international standards and regulations such as Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping (STCW) ,the Maritime Labor Convention (MLC, 2006) and IMO model courses and is ISO 9001:2015 compliant. EMTI S.C. candidates must obtain a 5-year university degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and successfully complete university level.
