About
Rural Development Initiative (RDI) is a youth and agriculture development non-governmental organization(NGO) that works to transform subsistence agriculture into market-oriented agriculture through training and market connections for smallholder farmers, effectively protecting them from price shocks while increasing their profits.
Current partners :
• Plan International Rwanda : partnership with Plan International Rwanda for the Skilling and Opportunities for Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship (SOYEE) Program.
• TERRAFUND for AFR100: RDI won a project of Terra-fund for AFR100. The project aims to reduce vulnerability and increase landscape resilience in Karongi and Rutsiro districts and promote the adoption of agroforestry to enhance water retention, reduce soil erosion, and provide soil nutrients for land productivity.
• European Union-(Kungahara Project): RDI in partnership with the European cooperative for Rural Development (EUCORD) win the European Union project that aims to Boost Agriculture production in Rwanda (Kungahara) is a three-year project which will work with 60 farmer's cooperatives formed by 12000 farmers in 3 districts.
• Segal Family Foundation: Partnering with Segal family economic empowerment of youth farmers, especially through agriculture training and market connections.
Previous partners:
• UND/RGB: Economic empowerment of youth and fish farmers through Aquaculture skills development in Burera district.
• Rwanda TVET Board (Skills Development Fund): RDI partnered with Rwanda TVET Board to provide skills in agriculture, animal resources and forestry in order to build the capacity of rural youth so that they can create incomes and livelihoods from those areas. Etc………….
