COASTAL BULK SHIPPING LTD was set up in 2008. Its original shareholders consisted of a diverse group of people who had a common interest in coastal shipping. Their backgrounds varied considerably from farming to transport operators and workers in the transport and shipping industry.

In April 2020 Coastal Bulk Shipping Ltd was pleased to announce that ASP Ships Group had acquired a 50% shareholding in the company.

The ASP Ships Group (ASP)is a global specialist marine services provider with a focus on Australia, New Zealand and Asian regions. ASP currently operates in New Zealand through wholly owned subsidiary Silver Fern Shipping Limited, based in Wellington and operate two MR tankers for Coastal Oil Logistics Ltd. The vessels distribute petroleum products from the NZ Refinery at Marsden Point around the New Zealand coast.

With ASP as a shareholder, Coastal Bulk Shipping will continue to identify and develop cost efficient and environmentally friendly options to move freight around New Zealand.
