Friels is nestled in the heart of the South Derry and Mid Ulster countryside in the picturesque village of Swatragh.
The bar is currently run by the fifth generation of the Friel family and has been in the family name for over one hundred years. In the public bar, you will get a real feel of the old world, with pictures and memorabilia of bygone times. Our roaring log fire in winter makes Friels a cosy place to spend an evening. We have a 90 seater Restaurant and 2 large covered outdoor spaces with capacity for 250 people. Our Motorhome park will hold up to 15 Motorhomes.
Historically, Friels was used as a soup kitchen during the Great Famine in the 1840s. Our new Visitor Centre Gorta Swatraghs Famine Story is home to our original famine pot. We are located half way between Belfast and Derry, 40 minutes to the North Coast and Giants Causeway.
