About
The Instituto Últimos Refúgios is a social, environmental and cultural non-profit organization. Últimos Refúgios seeks to raise awareness for the preservation of our scarce natural resources. We seek to increase knowledge about nature and wildlife by creating empathy using cultural/scientific products with a unique artistic vision, especially in children with our environmental education programm.
Wildlife Photography and Photographic Books:
Images have the power to change the course of history. Our specialty is the photographic and audiovisual record of fauna and flora, capturing the essence of each region and ecosystem. Últimos Refúgios develops high quality editorial projects with artistic, educational and scientific value.
Documentaries and Videos:
We use the medium video for transmitting stories in a way that photography can not. Videos have the vantage to inspire the human senses without being limited to vision, taking a message further. With our documentaries we seek to portray natural beauty, socio-environmental and cultural situations of the areas in which we implement preservation projects.
Exhibitions:
We implement exhibitions that portray the beauty of nature, using pictures that make an impression, excite and raise awareness by taking advantage of an artistic format that is widely accepted by society. Our database of quality images covers most Brazilian ecosystems. But we also implement exclusive projects for the registration of specific preservation areas for photographic exhibitions.
Environmental Education:
Últimos Refúgios develops and implements activities in public schools, reaching children of a highly impressionable age group. Our goal is to positively influence them towards more sustainable behaviors, supporting the creation of new sustainable habits and values through activities such as workshops, art exhibitions, field trips to preservation units, social media activities etc.
