Hotel Vasco da Gama first opened its doors to the public on August 1st 1960 by the hands of Domingos Sancho de Sousa Uva, its visionary founder. Located in the coastal village of Monte Gordo, literally "planted on the seashore," this hotel presents an outstanding geographical location which distinguishes it from the others.
Hotel Vasco da Gama features 185 rooms, all tastefully equipped, and most of them recently redecorated and designed to create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. If you prefer, you can choose among the 30 villas, most known as "flats", charismatically located over the gardens or near the tennis courts and each with a backyard and pateo.
Opened for business from April to October, the beach restaurant and bar, best known as "A Barraquinha", is the cherry on top of the cake. There you will taste delicious typical dishes such as sardines, which really are "to die for," coupled with very good quality/price wines from Alentejo (Mingorra winery), and complemented by the sheer warmth of the well known hostess Marta Uva and her tireless staff.
Because the beach here is queen, it must not go unsaid that Hotel Vasco da Gama owns a private area of the beach, allowing guests to virtually own their spot in the sun.
