Somalia has undergone untold suffering and aguish due to the civil war and though reconstruction is underway, there are many areas that need urgent intervention. International Organizations, Donor Nations, Civil Society groups, the Government, and Local Non-Governmental Organizations are all racing against time to participate in the nation-state building and reconstruction of Somalia. It is against this backdrop that SHADO was borne to be part of these process by providing solutions and interventions that are tested and proven.
Somali Humanitarian and Development Organizations a multi-facet Non-Governmental Humanitarian Organization formed to address the most pertinent issues affecting the Somali community in partnership with international organizations and the Government.
SHADO was established in June 2010 by a group of Somali professionals to fill the strategic gaps faced by relevant Government departments and institutions, Local NGOs, and the society at large through evidence and results-based interventions that uplift the lives of the vulnerable groups in the society.
SHADO will work to foster sustainable development and humanitarian response, where each contributes uniquely to advancing the organization's mission, whether by working in different sectors or by supporting the overall goal of the organization. By implementing projects in health, education, humanitarian response, and water, SHADO contributes to solving some of the leading problems facing Somalia– helping to find local solutions to challenges and sowing the seeds of lasting change. SHADO recognizes the importance of education, health services, clean water, and humanitarian response in alleviating the hardship of the war. we aim for inclusive development, systematic change, local ownership, and contextualized solutions.
